Because of vast amounts of money to be made in selling fake UGG® footwear, the fakes are getting better, but there are still some tell-tale signs to look out for.
- REAL UGG® footwear IS made in China, fake UGG® manufacturers and retailers sometimes claim that their product is made in Australia or New Zealand
- Just check the oerall quality, look and feel. Is the stitching of a good quality?, is printing done well?, is the design as expected?, do they fit well?
- Labels on the UGG® box WILL say "UGG Australia" on the real ones. Fakes ones will often have "China" labels on the box (UGG footware is NEVER shipped from China).
- Real UGG® boots NEVER have labels hanging from them, fake ones often have!
- The note inside the box that accompanies the REAL UGG® boots will be on a good quality with dark lettering, the same goes for the "Congratulations on your purchase" cards (fake ones are often printed on thinner paper and card and the lettering may be lighter)..
- The plastic wrappers that the boots come in are also different. REAL UGG® wrappers will ALWAYS have the "UGG Australia" logo on them, it is also thicker plastic. Fake ones are very thing plastic bags with no logo.
- REAL UGG® products will have inserts in the boots to protect the products whilst in transit.
- The sole of the REAL UGG® boots is at least an inch thick (they are flexible), the fake ones tend to be stiffer and do not flex easily.
- The stitching is usually a good giveaway. Fake UGG® boots have uneven and poor stitching.
- The label at the back of the boots should show a "registered" mark "®" after the word UGG, although some fake ones show this also.
- REAL UGG® boots always have the logo on the soles, and always carry the same "registered" mark "®" after the word UGG.
- REAL UGG® boots just have a better quality feel to them.
- Real UGG® footware how has a holographic sun logo on the sewn-in label but this can be faked, but the quality of the holograph and label can't.
